Two series, one hand. Prints drawn from the street, collages built from old paper — each piece unique, each carrying a handwritten second voice.

PORTUGUESE ORIGINALS

Gelliprints — each one unique.

Each Gelliprint begins with a photograph, transferred onto a mineral-oil gel plate in a window of seven to fifteen seconds — the timing is everything. Reverse painting, collage papers and further layers follow. Then, by hand, a calligraphy layer: song lyrics, literary lines, fictional dialogues. Not meant to be read, but a second voice. Because the technique cannot be editioned, every print is one of a kind.

ANALOG COLLAGES

Collages — the memory of paper.

Markus Böhler is an avid flea-market goer, collecting magazines from the 1950s to the 1970s — German, American and especially Portuguese. He is drawn as much to the material as the image: yellowed paper, old printing screens, faded colour. These fragments are reassembled, layered and repurposed, often with pages from old books. In the collages, paper becomes not just a medium but a participant — and the calligraphy returns as a second voice.
